Vista Sidebar Tutorials

1. Open Adobe Photoshop CS2, create New Document (File » New… or press Ctrl+N) with:

2. Fill your New Document with Grey color or any background picture you want (in this tutorial I using Line Wallpaper 3rd by petercui, download free on DEVIANTART). Then, create New Layer above your background layer, rename this layer to Main or any name you like:

3. Now, using Rounded Rectangle Tool to draw new rounded rectangle on this layer:

Your document now will look like:

4. Then, open Layer Style and apply these style on it: Opacity: 70% | Fill: 50%
- Outer Glow:

- Inner Glow:

- Gradiant Overlay: Gradiant: #A8A8A8 » #000000

- Stroke:

Now, your document will look like:

5. Using Horizontal Type Tool (T) to make a text, in this tutorials I will type Vista Sidebar:
- Horizontal Type Tool (T) Properties:

- Drag the text to the top of the box or bottom, in the picture below, I drag it to the top:

6. Now, apply these style to make your text more glossy (Double click on Text Layer or Right Click » Blending Options… to open Layer Style):
- Drop Shadow:

- Outer Glow:

7. Duplicate your Text Layer (Right click on Text Layer » Duplicate Layer…) and rename the new layer to shadow:

- On shadow Layer, click menu Edit » Transform » Flip Vertical, and drag the shadow text (on shadow Layer) to below of your main text (Vista Sidebar Layer), now your document will look like:

8. Open Layer Style for shadow Layer, then apply these styles to make its reflection:
- Opacity: 40% | Fill: 0%
- Gradiant Overlay:

- With Gradiant:

9. Finally, you can add anything you want in this Sidebar and make it have more personality, here is my final Sidebar:
