Drawing Effect in Photoshop

Step 1: The first thing that we will do is to open Photoshop.

Step 2: Next we will open the action window ( Window > Actions) or (Alt + F9). This should bring up the action pallete. Click the new action button highlighted below in the image. Name the action “Drawing Effect”.

Step 3: Open any image that we want to apply the drawing effect (File >Open > Select An Image). I happened to chose a image of Bill Gates. You can use the same image if you like below.

Step 4: Next we will apply the Crosshatch filter (Filter > Brush Strokes > Crosshatch). Apply the settings similar to what I have in the image below. Click OK when finished. You should have an image similar to the second image below.

Step 5: Next we are going to apply the Texturizer filter (Filter > Texture > Texturizer) and apply the settings similar to what I have below in the first image. The image should look like the second image.

Step 6: Click the stop button on the action pallete. The image below highlights the stop button. You are complete with this action.

You are done with this tutorial! You can reuse the Drawing Effect by simply opening the action pallete and clicking the “Drawing Effect” action.
