Winter Scene with Snowman

In this tutorial, you’ll learn hwo to create a festive wintery snow scene, just in time for the holidays.

To get things started, I’m going to create a new document that’s 6 in width and 4in in height. Next, create a new layer and fill it with #5A63A9.

Then grab your paint brush and using a 10-15px soft brush, brush in some lighter hues, and even some yellows and oranges. If you have a graphics tablet, the pressure sensitivity will really come in handy here.

Now, using the same brush, and the smudge tool, blend and soften everything together until you have a clouds/nothern lights type look.

Now create a new layer and set your foreground color to white. Select your gradient tool and then choose the “Foreground to Tansparent” gradient. Fill the canvas from top to bottom with the white-transparent gradient.

Set the layer mode to “Soft Light”.
