Candy Cane

Now hit Ctrl+I to invert the candy cane, making it white. Then double-click on the layer in the Layers palette and apply the following layer styles.

Pay close attention to the gradient, as this is the most important (and probably the most difficult) layer style. I’ve included a close-up below.

Note that sometimes your stripes may look off initially. They may not seem to wrap properly around the candy cane or may create odd looking circles. If this is the case, from within the “Gradient Overlay” section of the Layer Styles palette, just click and drag on the document canvas to move the stripes around until you’re satisfied with their positioning.

You should now have a finished candy cane.
